FAQs About Therapy in Burlington, VT and Bristol, VT

Do you have current openings for therapy?

As of 5/2/24, Corrine is not accepting new clients. To get on Corrine’s waiting list, please please submit a contact form.

We also have a rostered therapist joining our team in late May. She will be taking Medicaid only. To get on the waiting list, please submit a contact form.

We know how hard it is to find a therapist, especially one who is somatically-oriented, queer-affirming, neurodiversity-competent, and works intersectionally. As such, we update availability here. Please check back frequently as we are actively growing our team.

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is particularly useful for those who have experienced trauma and live with persistent anxiety, depression, shame, circular thoughts, nightmares, disconnection from the body, hypervigilance, numbness or other symptoms of trauma. For a deeper dive, see this blog. To explore if somatic therapy is right for you, fill out this form or call us today at 802-222-0436.

What are your fees?

$175 for a 50 minute session. Intakes (your first session) are $225.

Do you offer telehealth or in-person therapy?

We offer telehealth therapy to people across the State of Vermont and in-person therapy in our offices in Bristol and Burlington, VT.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, we take Medicaid also known as Green Mountain Care.

You don’t take my insurance, but I want to work with one of your therapists. What can I do?

Check with your insurer if they accept out-of-network benefits for mental health. If so, we are happy to provide what is called a “superbill” for you to submit directly to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Where exactly are you located in Burlington and Bristol?

We have two locations. In Burlington, VT we are in the Kilburn and Gates building at 7 Kilburn St, Suite 317. There is parking off of Pine St on both sides of the building as well as 1 hour street parking. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Exit the elevator to the left and we are the second to last door on the right. The accessible entrance is at 310 Pine St near the Four Corners of the Earth Deli. Take elevator to the third floor and follow same directions from above.

In Bristol, VT we are located in the old VBT (Vermont Biking Tours) building at 614 Monkton Rd, just minutes from Bristol Village. There is off-street parking and this space is equipped with an external ramp with a 1/2 step into the building, and two internal carpeted steps between the waiting area and the treatment room. The bathroom is not ADA accessible.

There are gender neutral bathrooms in both locations.

What is your cancellation policy?

Follow-ups canceled less than 48 hours in advance will be charged the full cost of the visit.

For Medicaid patients there is no cancellation fee. However, more than 3 late cancellations or rescheduled sessions (if not done in the same week) is grounds for termination from the practice.

Can I use my HSA/FSA card? What about my HRA?

Yes. Many folks utilize this payment method which effectively discounts your sessions by 20-35% on average (because you’re not paying income taxes on the cost of the treatment!). Some HRA policies require a letter of medical necessity — ask your HR rep.

Do you have a sliding scale?

No. We are only able to take Medicaid and private-pay clients at this time.

What are your Covid-19 policies and practices?

We’re in a gray-area between pandemic and endemic. At Refuge, we maintain that proper disinfection, and vaccination are foundational accessibility practices to keep all community members safe.

Both the Burlington, VT and Bristol, VT offices are outfitted with a HEPA filter and we disinfect high-touch surfaces between every patient. If you have any new symptoms of Covid-19, please call/text to change your appointment to telehealth.

If you test positive for Covid, you may reschedule your in-person visit for 3 days after symptoms have fully resolved OR 7 days after your first positive test result (as long as symptoms have significantly improved and you don’t have a fever).
